Screw Conveyor System Retrofit

Recently completed a screw conveyor system retrofit in our Turbomachinery Shop, expanding and upgrading the existing equipment to meet new operating demands.

Scope of work included:

• Adding two screws for conveying

• Fabricating and installing new conveyor covers

• Integrating a new motor and gearbox

All work was completed in-house, this project will have gone through all 4 our divisions Fabrication, Machining, Turbo, and we are set to install this product with our Field Service crews.

This project highlights Hahn & Clay’s ability to modify and upgrade critical mechanical systems while maintaining quality, control, and schedule.

Specialty Vessel

This vessel is a great example of Hahn & Clay’s ability to take complex designs from raw material to a fully tested, finished product—all under one roof.

For this project, the vessel was fully machined from a forging and fabricated start to finish at our shop (including hydrotesting). It includes a specialty liner engineered for demanding applications in the petrochemical and refinery industries, where material selection, precision machining, and quality control are critical.

Projects like this highlight our ability to handle high-pressure, specialty-material vessels while maintaining tight tolerances and strict quality standards throughout the entire process.

MAC Compressor Overhaul

Hahn & Clay recently completed a comprehensive overhaul of a MAC compressor, returning the unit to OEM specifications and ensuring reliable, long-term operation.

Scope of work included:

• Removal of inlet piping and IGVs, with IGVs sent out for repair

• Removal of bearing caps and gearbox upper half to allow full internal access

• Detailed bearing inspections

• Removal of impeller eyes and shroud with all critical measurements documented

• Cleaning and inspection of each impeller for wear or damage

• Complete reassembly and rebuild to OEM specifications

This level of detail and execution is critical to maintaining performance, reliability, and operating efficiency in critical rotating equipment.

Interlocking Vessel

We’re currently working on an interlocking vessel that has been fully machined in-house and features a 5 7/8" thick girth seam weld around the exterior.

A weld of this thickness isn’t just another step in the process — it requires:

• Precise joint prep and fit-up

• Multiple weld passes with strict quality oversight

• Experienced heavy-wall welders

• Tight coordination between machining and fabrication

By handling the machining and welding under one roof, our team maintains dimensional accuracy, structural integrity, and schedule control from start to finish. Heavy wall vessels demand experience, discipline, and the right equipment — and that’s exactly what we bring to every project.

If you have a complex vessel or heavy-wall fabrication requirement, Hahn & Clay is ready to support.
